So where does Dorothy know Nick from?

If Nick isn't the Tin Man or from Oz, then why is Dorothy so sure she's seen him before when they meet? They made a big deal out of that and then just dropped it... Was that just a misdirect that they never felt the need to explain, or did I just miss it?

i know! and the line of work he's in made it all tie in nicely too

reply

billie westbrook told her to say that which is "i think i know you"

Atheists will celebrate life, while you're in church celebrating death

reply

That's the thing though... They made it seem like she goes in planning to use that line just to pick him up, then actually realizes she really does know him from somewhere. She even admits it to him. And then they never address it again.

reply

Don't they? Dorothy gets mugged outside her apartment and Nick shows up to interrupt. Turned out they were neighbours.

reply

That could be it I guess... Dorothy just moved in but I don't think there's a better explaination than that.

reply

Yeah, she hadn't been there long enough for that to be a decent excuse. I think they were doing it as part of the attempt to make you think he's the Tin Man, but after you find out he's not, then it just looks like a plot hole.

I was puzzled about this also. Then when I came to the boards and clicked his characters name " Nick Chopper" it lead me to a list of every Tin Man that's ever been. Nick Chopper was the Tin Man's human name. Sooooo what the deuce?
I think there was quite a bit of patchy script writing in this. I won't even touch on anything else. But this little plot hole has me annoyed.

It's what I always assumed. You're supposed to think he's going to be the Tinman but he ends up jsut being his neighbor. Just because she hasn't been there long doens't mean she can't ahve seen him in passing ont eh street or something.
She doesn't say that she really knows him jsut that he looks familiar or something like that. "knows him" int eh sense that he looks familiar which would be from passing on the street.

reply

It's just another example of terrible, terrible writing; pure and simple.

Just another plot hole in the dark abyss called the Witches Of Oz

reply

I'm thinking this is a result of a rewrite. Originally, this was supposed to be a payoff that he was the Tinman. Then, maybe, they felt there were too many plotlines, and took out that subplot after the fact. A bit shabby, but so be it.

reply

Ok, the movie sucks, we all know that. And we all know about how terrible it is about explaining things. But I think Nick Chopper is Tik-Tok. Remember the Wizard as the hologram, telling what really happened? Then you see a scene where Tik-Tok is sucked up into the sky? Nick thinks he's the tin man but not yet tik-tok is also very similar in material.

I don't know. It's a long shot.

That's also my theory. In the Oz sequence in the first episode, after the energy from the key swirls around Dorothy (before sending her back to Kansas), it's also shown enveloping the Scarecrow, the Lion and the Tinman, sending them to Earth as well. When there's a flashback to this scene in the second episode, Tik-Tok is shown in the next room, also getting caught up in the energy from the key. So while on Earth the Scarecrow becomes Allen, the Lion becomes Bryan, and the Tinman becomes Rick, it's strongly hinted that Tik-Tok became Nick.

His name might also be a indicator: Tik-Tok = Nick Chop(per).

That would kind of be in keeping with The Tik-Tok Man of Oz, in which Betsy Bobbin is romantically paired with Tik-Tok at the end...
