In Re: Kelvin Jones (6-Nov-2010)

Another fine episode, this one about a segregated school matter: with a school named for Justice Garza, no less. Even with the many implausible setups with the whole series' premise, I haven't seen any episode I haven't enjoyed. I'm going to miss this show. I wish that it could be picked up by one of the cable channels.

SPOILER:

The Lucinda issues with the buzz-cut guy and the Delaware tombstone are explained.

In this episode's secondary storyline, Lucinda is arrested for the murder of buzz-cut guy, previously assumed to be a suicide. Lucinda refused to provide a DNA sample to exonerate herself (from tissue found on the corpse). As learned in the previous episode, buzz-cut guy is the abusive father of a girl Lucinda was protecting. It turns out that Lucinda was also an abused child, and assumed a new identity (the Lucinda name on the tombstone, another victim) and Lucinda's DNA was on file with a national registry of abuse victims, which would have exposed her identity if provided. Buzz-cut's wife, the new suspect in his murder, thanks Lucinda for protecting the daughter.

Yes,it was a nice episode.
But some plot elements didn't make sense to me.
The moment Garza is suing the District there all these people who support him. They even go as far to go on the streets to demonstrate. How on earth can he have difficulties getting the signatures needed to actually start. These people who went out on the street couldn't be bothered to sign a paper. I am sorry, but that is just a weak tool in order to create an obstacle that isn't there.

The whole Lucinda storyline was neatly wrapped but also doesn't make sense when looking at the first three episodes. In the pilot episode it was clearly Garza who was the target. Why would the abusive father follow him in stead of Lucinda.
My guess is that the writers did wanted Garza to be the target of the politicians, business people he let down. But changed it to the Lucinda story line since they probably knew already that the show would be canceled.
This is all speculation on my part.
