Bravo for Episode #2!

I loved that they had the nerve to bring up the subject of Arizona and have the jury vote the way that 70% of the people are REALLY saying in polls (not what the stupid media is claiming): THE ARIZONA LAW IS GOOD!

Now, the writers of the show DID take the law out of context, like so many of these media frenzies are: They quote the law as allowing cops to randomly ask anyone they suspect for an ID and claiming they'll stick strictly to latinos. The law requires them to have a reason to pull them over to begin with, THEN they can ask for their ID and papers. And that law applies to everyone (there are plenty of illegals here from India, China, and who knows where else), Arizona just happens to be south enough where Latinos have the higher majority of being those illegal immigrants.

The guy in last night's episode may have been a true citizen, and may not have been drunk in public, but when the cop stops to say hi, and he pulls out a gun and an attitude, whether he has an ID or not, I'd say that probable cause for the cop to pull out his own gun and shoot him for protection. Hey, I'm sorry, but it's just like any other crime: if you didn't do the crime (in this case, sneak into the country illegally), then you have nothing to be afraid of.

BS on your last line.

Too many cops use force when the person is innocent. How many stories have there been about cops using all kinds of tactics to get people to confess to crimes they didn't do?

Let's do it to them before they do it to us.

Let's do what to whom before they do what to us?

I'm more than convinced that there are a few bias and/or corrupt government officials out there, but I still belive that most of the time, force is used when they're told. (LOL, we all know the following is BS...I just need an example...) OJ may have been innocent, but he was on a wanted list and running, so it makes perfect sense for cops to be prepared and use force when they run into him.

And in the particular case of this episode, if the guy being asked to stop hadn't been such a jerk, the cop wouldn't have had any reason to use such force. The fact that this law exists isn't the problem; it's the fact that so many people are breaking this law and there aren't enough provisions and cops to control it.

You may think too many cops use force; well too many people have weapons nowadays, and there are too many fears going around about terrism which also adds to these fears. So when a lady comes through the airport scanner with a pair of nail clippers in her purse, the security jumps on her to avoid the fear (and lawsuits) that will arrise from the other passengers. They're just doing what they're told to help save the lives (and in the case of illegals...money) of the people living in this country.

I'm not going to bring my personal politics into this but I will agree that I loved that this show was courageous enough to tackle a controversial subject and to actually represent the true popular opinion rather than the media opinion on it. That spoke volumes to me on the integrity of the show's creators and writer's that they were courageous enough to do that. Especially on a network like NBC! No wonder the show got canceled.
