Can someone please explain a scene for me (SPOILERS)

In season one, i think episode "Covenant", at the end Nikita kills Kazim. Right before that he says something to her like "I was following orders. Like you did so many times." to which Nikita replies "You and I are not the same." and then Kazim says something that I do not understand. Something about grabbing the gun and Nikita says "I would". They both go for the gun and Nikita is clearly closer, picks its up and shoots him.

Was Kazim really thinking he could be faster being further than her and on his knees? What was the point of his word exchange? Over all i understand the scene but I don't get what he his little dialog to her was all about.

All three of them were just Percy's pawns in his chess game (Michael, Nikita, Kasim). All followed Percy's orders and were used by him, but the difference is Kasim made a deal with Percy. Michael & Nikita didn't and were both betrayed by Percy. That's why Nikita said "you and I are not alike." He made a deal with the devil, she never did voluntarily.

Right, I understood that part. So maybe I explained myself poorly. My question is, what did Kasim say to Nikita right before trying to reach for the gun? It was something a long the lines of "If you were me, you'd go for the gun". and Nikita said "I would.". So this leads me to believe that Kasim was enticing Nikita to kill him but that doesn't make sense.

I guess, I just think grammatically/contextually speaking, what Kasim said didn't really make sense to me.
