Im not sure it will last, from what ive seen they're basically playing the same characters as corner gas.

shareShe's supposed to be annoying. That's why she needs all those therapists, and now, the life coach. It's Stan's job to try and make her be "normal".
But also, I don't think these characters are anything like the Corner Gas characters. Brent is now playing a nerdy, failing entrepreneur who claims to know how to lead a normal life (those who can't do, teach), where on Corner Gas he was playing a lazy, semi-sarcastic, imaginative over-eater.
The 2 are polar opposites. Same with Nancy, her 2 characters are polar opposites. Sarcastic, smart yet lazy Wanda vs hyper, seemingly-dumb, over-reactionist Millie.
I think people WANT to see Corner Gas characters and are upset that it's so different. I for one welcome the change. Corner Gas had a great run, and they quit while they were ahead. Now we've got 2 shows instead, and both are decent so far.
The only bad part is it interferes with Chuck.

I didn't mean for it to sound like I was comparing it to Corner Gas (though it's hard not to for obvious reasons). But seriously, Millie is WAAAAAYYY over the top. The jokes just aren't funny, and the role seriously does not suit Brent. He will forever be typecast as a dumb farmer-type (no offense to the farmers in my home province) running a gas station.
Do I "want" to see Corner Gas? Well, I sure long for it after watching the first few episodes of this P.O.S!
See I think Brent fits this role perfectly, and Nancy, although over the top for sure, does it well. I know people like that, so I guess I can relate. It sounds to me like YOU have typecast these people into their Corner Gas roles. I've watched Brent's standup for years, and thought his role on CG was a nice departure from his standup, and now this - it's great.

Both the Trailer Park Boys and The Beachcombers are no longer being made. And it's hard to find an unbleeped TPB episode or a Beachcombers episode made before 1985 (the Molly era). At least with Corner Gas you can find unadulterated episodes with none missing.
Oh my gawd the second episode was worst then the first. Someone scratch out my eyes before the third one airs.

shareI would love for Canada to have a few good television series and have them in production around the same time, but as long as Brett Butt is allowed to product crap like he does, this downward spiral will continue.

It loks terrible, and it is. It's typical Ontario fare. You get a lot more humor out of Quebec and the Maritimes.
shareI don't think the show is great---my expectations were definitely high after Corner Gas---but I think it's slowly getting better. The more recent episodes have been better than the first couple. However, some of the acting is really terrible, like the woman that plays Brent Butt's character's wife.
