This show is hilarious and brilliant, how can people criticise it??

This show is seriously hilarious and I am baffled at the people who have written negative reviews about it and said it's not funny. Were they watching the same show I was because I think the jokes and acting are brilliant, and I haven't laughed so hard in a while at a show. Plus it has Emily Perkins, which is why I started watching it in the first place and yet again she delivers gold. What more could you want out of a show 10******/10!

You're entitled to your opinion, mine is that I just cannot stand it. This makes me sad in that I was a huge Corner Gas fan. Nancy Robertson's character here is annoying on multiple different levels.

The show I think just does not work.

Same here, I like corner gas but her characters so annoyin and just poorly written (for her) that you just want her to stop

this show is terrible, i watched 3 episodes hoping it would turn the corner. i was wrong. even the last season of trailer park boys is better than this.

Come on!!! there has to be MORE talent in Canada then Brent Butt, This guy is PAINFUL to watch as a standup and his TV writing is even worse. Emily Perkins is an annoying troll! her acting is forced and unbelievable and her characters are mean-spirited and unlikeable. we have GREAT people in Hollywood I have to believe we have better talent then Brent Butt and Emily Perkins!! GARBAGE CANADIAN TV.

Judging by all the replies here you can SEE how people criticize this show and it is because it is NOT hilarious or brilliant or even watchable. hiccups is terrible it is easily worse than Dan for Mayor which is also a terrible show.

i have to agree....i really did like corner gas..but......not this show.....in every aspect...

And i dont undertsand how anyone can find it hilarious. The acting is horrible and it is unfunny as hell based on the few episodes of s1 that i tortured myself through.

I really dont understand how this could have gotten a second season.

As this Monday's show only got 386,000 viewers according to Brent Butt himself, I dont think you have to worry about a season 3.

When I first saw the show I thought it was a little weird and goofy because it was such a turn from Corner Gas...but then I found myself laughing and telling myself to try it again. Now, I really like it. My only complaint is that Brent's on-screen wife and "Stan" seem to have zero chemistry but it is not UN-watchable, just a bit annoying. I love the office people and I think Crystal does a great job.

If you can't be good, at least be good at it!

As a non-Canadian I like to sample the original tv shows of other countries and I have to say this show has been a hilarious trip which my whole family has enjoyed watching. I never watched Corner Gas, though I have considered tracking it down so I have no bias from that. The acting in this show isn't the best ever, but the way they deliver the lines and the writing has proven often laugh out loud material in my household. Maybe it's because I watch the show with my family that it makes it more enjoyable? Maybe I'm a little older than other viewers here (Late 30's)? I don't know, it just somehow works and as funny as I find the show my wife finds it even funnier. They don't push the envelope very much on risque content... maybe that's what many are missing... but I am sick and tired of all the comedies that are just filled with trashy content.

As for Canadian TV... This is GOLD. It's not the typical dirty joke after dirty joke as the only way to get a laugh... it's purely situational comedy. Nancy does a great job and though Emily Perkin's character was more annoying that good at first, as of the end of season 2 I found her to be funnier. I think the baby helps.

Other canadian originals? Dan for Mayor is funny, but it's not as funny as Hiccups. InSecurity was a great satire on the typical Spy shows. It's not comedy Gold, but it was fun to watch considering how they exploited the entire genre. My favorite of the bunch was Endgame which aired on Showcase. I think that show should get distribution in the US on A&E, TNT or USA. It fits in with the dramas on those networks very well. Too bad it looks like it won't see a second season.

Anyone who claims this show sucks, sucks themselves. The show has humour that can be related to.
The trailer park boys are definitely trash and should never have gotten through. Little mosque is another piece of crap that is one that is super awful this is NOT very truthful yet alone funny, it actually is embarrassing and demoralizing to all peoples.
.
I would like to see Fairly Legal come back as well as; No Ordinary Family, Cougartown, Sue Thomas F.B.Eye, Lie To Me. These shows were good and thought provoking Cougartown was funny showing true home troubles with comedy and fun. Anyone not seeing the humour is dead in the head.
.
Hockey and football are extremely dangerous sports and people like this form of spine damaging, fight provoking, concussion producing sports and want their kids to destroy their bodies and make everyone happy in the process. Soccer is a lot safer. Let’s show videos of the men shooting in the wars and make sport of it. It makes the same connection. You can put bets on that as well.
.
People need videos to watch to make them laugh and bring them down from the mad rush at work and Hiccups does that. Head smashing football puts stress in one’s life that we want to get rid of.

I remain for now

I gave Hiccups a chance every week during the first season, but I always found myself looking forward to Dan For Mayor. When the second season aired I caught bits of episodes here and there - ultimately it didn't hold my attention and I didn't have the patience to sit through Millie's "outrageous" antics while waiting for the much better supporting characters. Frankly I think one season would have been plenty for this show (don't mean that to sound harsh).

reply

I like the show but the side characters aren't very good. Millie and Stan's relationship is the best part of the show but it is painful to try and watch the rest of them act.

What made corner gas work so well was that all the characters added to the show and could be relied upon to carry stories along. That was not the case here (especially Crystal...wow was she awful)

Listen, strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.

Because people have different opinions sometimes?
