Mo was a lovely lady

Having met Mo Mowlam at a local event in 2003 I can safely say that whatever others think about her I found her to be a lovely lady. She talked with me for a long while as if she'd known me for years. We spoke about politics, her life as she was able to tell it, and she had a lovely warm infectious laugh. She was a bit unsteady on her feet at the time and sadly at that time, none of us knew how ill she actually was, nor the enormous battles she'd had with ther illness and indeed how soon it was before it would claim her life. I treasure the photos I had taken with her that day.

I therefore loved Julie Walter's potrayal of Mo Mowlam, I can well imagine her being as forthright and disarming as she was, a true and honest lady who, had she been dealt a better health card in life, would have been a great PM.

It was a huge shock to hear she had been placed in a hospice in Canterbury at the unbelievably young age of just 55 as there is only ever one outcome. It was incredibly sad too that her husband John died a few years later. At least they are both together again.
