So glad it is over.

I am so tired on mesage board about reading how this show was good for girls with an eating disorder. That is ignorant.

Eating disorders aren't just teen girls trying to be thin. My friend is a 300 pound man with more ED issues then any dozen girls I know. He;'s been told by doctors his health issues are all directly related to his size - and yet he's still shovleing it in. Oh and he has no healthcare so you all get to pay his bills.

If you "Stress eating" or "Eating for pleasure" then you have a disorder ! Food is fuel not fun, not love, just fuel.

The fact that HALF this country is now obese IS AN EATING DISORDER. Stop preying on girls who are activly trying to be thin. They aren't really as dangerously skinny as you'd think, they just look that way standing next to fat people.

I'm glad this was canceled cause it was a bad show. I've even more glad the - oh how good it was "important for anorexic girls to combat the damage being done"

Anorexic girls react to seeing OBESE people. We call them triggers !

You're right because now we can have more shows about rich, toothpick thin models that live in New York and California and have no morals, those shows teach girls the real way they should look and behave. Yep! this is a real win.

Agreed with Cronosred. If you hate the show so much, don't watch it. Don't come over to the message boards. Cause frankly, your argument has been used thousands of times. Yeah, people that are obese aren't healthy, but making fun of them is something that is unacceptable. This show was different and that's what mattered. It wasn't a horrible show, and the fact that you have a problem with people not looking like every other skinny actor is just plain pathetic.

Oh, and about this "friend" you mentioned; it's really great that you feel you should talk about him/her that way. It may be the truth, but you really aren't a very good friend at all. Ever try to help him out a bit? Support would be nice. Losing weight is never easy, and that's a proven fact. Grow up just a tad, will ya?

reply

The hell are you talking about?

This show was important to anyone regardless of an eating disorder or weight or whatever.

This show explained that people are NOT defined by their weight, gender, sexual orientation, and that there are multiple layers to someone's personality.

And, if obesity is an eating disorder as you claim, don't you think we deserve this recognition that we are human and are not defined by our eating habits?

I think that message is helpful to anyone struggling with issues regarding food.

The way you discriminate against people of a larger weight in your post is disgusting. I think it's better that people watch this show and learn that it's about what's inside, and feel comfortable about yourself - or strive to be healthier, as characters on the show do - rather than watching a bunch of unrealistic "reality" shows with toothpick women. Those toothpick women are "a trigger" for someone to go anorexic, too! IDIOT!

It's become clear people need something to complain about and protest against in order to give their lives meaning and never was it more apparent then when it came to this show. There have been so many people that complain that this show promotes obesity which just goes to show the people complaing about this show never watched an episode because that was not the message at all and all I can say is shame on you people for contributing to the fall of our society by promoting intolerance for people who are different then you. It just goes to show our society has become so vapid that their mentality has become "I'll judge your worth by the way you look and how stupid you act" and that is just sad.

Good heavens I would hope so! I don't know any teenage girls with. . . oh wait, you weren't referring to that kind of ED.

I'm sure IT is just a stupid troll.
Trolls have no lives, apparently, and I feel sorry for them, actually. All they know how to do is reply on a script and hate everything they come in contact with.
"Hey there's a new show on tv. It treats fat people like they're human."
"IT'S GONNA SUCK, THERE'S FAT ASSES IN IT! MY BONER!"

Or better yet, the replies to talk about rape culture.
"RAPERAPERAPE....."<for as long as the comment can go on.
As well as "I HOPE YOU GET RAPED, FATASS/YOU FAT BITCH." when her weight is never mentioned in the intelligent writeup of how it works.
Mind boggling.
I'm kind of hoping they come up with something new. I don't have the time for it, I know I don't spend that much time finding stuff I don't like, just to comment on it in the most unintelligent way possible.

That said: the show isn't supporting obesity. It's about larger people. Obese people aren't a trigger for anorexic girls, obsession with bodies and weight is--especially if you're showing them a parade of girls more attractive than them.
I think people are just angry that this show showed them that fat people aren't cosntantly shoveling in fried dough and frosting, sitting on the couch and crying "WHY MEEEE?". No, most of us actively are trying to lose weight--even if it never works, even if the drugs we take chew up our heart muscles. It's apparently better to die trying to get thin than it is to live happily fat.

It's sad to see how obsessed your lowest common denominator is with looks, when I'm sure 90% of the guys who "hate fat chicks" are A.) fat themselves or B.) socially challenged losers or C.) obsessed with women who are way more attractive than them, and this is how they "get back" at females in general for not wanting to go out with them. Honey, it's not them, it's YOU. Maybe if you treated every human like a real person your life wouldn't be so *beep* that you have to go online and comment about tv shows that only existed for ten episodes.
