LA Times first impressions of pilot

Mostly positive review

Thumbs up: Intriguing world and the cast overall is impressive. James Wolk reminds us of a young George Clooney, but we're not sure if we like that. But he has promise. If you were a fan of Tyra on "Friday Night Lights," you'll become a big fan of Palicki here. She's a standout. Voight and Keith are both very strong.

Thumbs down: Slow pacing and some predictable moments.

Verdict: We'd love to see more. It has potential.

It ticks me off how often critics use "slow pacing" as an instant negative point. Freaking ritalin generation with zero attention span. Does every show or movie have to be a never-ending series of explosions or cursing these days? Did all of these pricks forget why Hitchcock thrillers were so particularly thrilling? Seems like today, you instantly fail on screen if you as much as try to create a mood.
