What was the scariest scene for you?

I'm thinking back to the first time I saw this, and 2 scenes stick out which gave me some soggy undies:

1. The guy pacing back and forth on the balcony, then appearing in the room on the same stride was brilliant and terrifying. I never hear about this scene but DANG

2. It may be the most cliche Insidious scare, but Fire Face appearing behind Josh does it for me every time.

Probably when the old woman found Josh in The Further. When she was peering back at him through the mirror with that horrific smile followed by that laugh, it unnerved me to say the very least.

The baby monitor scare's a close second though, I love that scene.

The demon on the balcony and behind the crib scared the hell out of me too.

THE WHOLE MOVIE WAS TERRIFYING ASF.

But if I had to name a few scenes, it's:

1. When Elise saw the dEMON IN DALTON'S ROOM POINTING AT HIM

2. THE OPENING CREDITS

3. WHEN WE SAW THE DEMON IN DALTON'S WINDOW

4. WHEN HE APPEARED BEHIND JOSH

5. WHEN DALTON SAID "he's looking" AND THE WHOLE CHASE SCENE WHEN IT FOLLOWED DALTON AND IT CRAWLED ON THE WALL

6. BASICALLY THE DEMON

Okay i'm freaking out this whole movie is definitely the most terrifying movie i have ever seen and is one of the few movies that actually scared me. So i'd rather not bring up the memories when i was 11 and saw this movie alone and had to close my eyes the whole movie lol

WAIT I FORGOT

7. When Renai heard the ghosts in the bABY MONITOR

8. Also WHEN TGE FIEND APPEARED IN GHE BABY'S CURTAINS

2 scenes REALLY creeped me out. One was when the demon was standing next to the bed, pointing at Dalton. And the other was when you could see the face behind the crib.

reply

Definitely the demon face right behind the dad.
That character is truly freaky. Once you see the whole thing it looks kind of campy, but still if I saw that thing walking towards me in a dark alley - my heart would explode. This film seems very retro, reminded me of some of the classic horror films.

When the guy is pacing back and forth on the balcony outside the window. Absolutely terrifying for me Because when I was 14 this guy tried to break in to my bedroom window in the middle of the night while I was sleeping (luckily my dad got outside in time and beat him up :D ) haha so yeah ever since that night I am terrified of windows and people being outside of them...

reply

Mine is actually when the two neckties are testing the chromatagraph in the hallway. The timing was brilliant.

reply

The spooky pictures of the dad when he was younger.... something about pictures and ghosts is extremely unnerving.

reply

The Tiptoe through the Tulips scene creeped the s**t out of me. Still does

reply

All the more creepy because it was in broad daylight, with the observer walking outside the house looking in. The brief glimpse of the figure, the movement of the figure, even the song the figure was dancing to, made it spooky.

Sadly, none. I loved getting to see Lyn Shaye; I'd watch her in anything. The one part that I wish had been expanded because of its seriously creepy potential is the bit about the smiley family who got all shot and junk. Their makeup was perfect, and completely enthralling; it was hard to look away. The whistling, pure awesomeness; not giving in to the temptation to have a jumpscare, that belongs in some kind of film museum because it was perfect. And the point where the family has lined up right behind What's His Name and then smiles...that was creepy as Hell! I wish those characters had a bigger part, because, imo, they were way cooler than everything else.

There were many scary moments in this movie, but like you, the one that stuck with me was the "Doll Girl" scene. Somehow, the lighting, the makeup, the music and the expressions on their faces made it feel otherworldly, which was literally the intention!

It also gave me some serious Bioshock vibes, so extra points for that. :)

That was the scariest thing for me, I think. When they are all there as a pasty doll-faced family, just smiling like that and later shot in their heads, while on the couch...nightmare fuel, bruh.

*shudders

The scene with the kid playing hide & seek. That freaked me out.

Also the guy hiding behind the cradle when the alarm was going off.
