It's quite sad. It had a great cast and a lot of very good episodes. More specifically the season finale was great, but it's a shame that we don't get to see what would come next.
At least Nick Santora tried to give some sort of closure:

Cheers,
This absolutely sucks. I loved this show. A&E is only crap reality shows anymore. There exists neither "arts" nor "entertainment" on their network now. Netflix, time to step up and rescue BoK. We should at least get a 2hour special movie episode to finish everything up, right?
shareReally pissed off with this news :(
shareI've been without internet for a few days I come back and read this news...
Terrible D:
I think I'll make a fan film comprised of clips of the series/clips of the actors other works to make the twitter posts into a Epilogue.
Anyone think that would be a good idea?
At least Nick Santora tried to give some sort of closure:
Nick Santora's tweets:
How it ends. BOKs pretend to turn Ray in but double cross Marshals so they go free & Ray walks.Shea gets rich w/ elbow savers. Contd....
Erica raises daughter in the country. Ray starts private security biz, lives near his daughter. Lloyd & Jules marry. Name their son Charlie.
Nick Santora's tweets:
I think he means that's what was planned way down the road. Not necessarily what would have happened next season. But the very final episode down the road would have been that conclusion.
But as another poster said. Season 2 really, really suffered...Not much happened and the group really lacked a special dynamic that Charlie brought...It just felt like something was missing. I always thought the writers would bring in a new character but it never happened.
To be honest I really lost interest.
Fact: 31.5% of IMDb users wanted Avatar to win Best Picture.
Fact: 31.5% of IMDb users are idiots.
As I have stated previously I'm thinking that those posts were more to give some kind of closure to the fans than anything else. I have no idea of how they would have really resolved the cliffhanger if the show had been renewed but I'm quite curious.
I don't even think that the storyline that Santora posted would have been the end game. This show has an excellent formula and I can see it turning into a kind of procedural show which could ultimately end naturally with the convicts being released for serving most of their sentences as well as for good behavior.
After all, in one episode, Shea told Vanessa that he had six years left on his sentence, which doesn't sound like much if one starts taking into account all the arrests made. I'm not sure about Erica but Lloyd seemed to have more years to go. However I'm not sure about the source of this last bit since I believe to have read it here, on the BoK boards.
Maybe as a way to create some friction on the show more down the road one of them would have got out on parole and would have continued to work on the team?
Cheers,

Thank You for posting the tweets. That closure is important.
shareThe networks exes taste is all in their mouths!
shareWhat the *beep* is this?!?!? This can't be! I thought the ratings were fine for this! What is the official reasoning for cancelling?! They never even gave a definitive reason!!!!!!! This is a nightmare, in 1 week, 3 of my fav shows have all been cancelled but BK being one of them is totally from left field. Really, really angry about this right now :(
shareI gave up watching serials on TV for the longest time. Now I feel this lifestyle will be renewed since the last three series' I picked to watch were all cancelled prematurely.
Screw 'em. Screw 'em all. Nothing but movies from here on out.
My "3" key is broken so I'm putting one here so i can cut & paste with it.
Well, seems the ratings were a bit crappy in the last bunch of episodes.
Shame cause I ended up really liking this second season.
I'm really disappointed. I felt season 2 was really good and would have looked forward to what they did if they had a S3.

Man: Do you know who I am?
Yakko: Why? Did you forget?
One of my favorites, sorry to see it go. Seems like they've cancelled all my shows this year to make room for more mindless drivel.
The last thing I wanna do is hurt you...but that's still on the list.
Serves them right for killing off Laz Alonso's character. I stopped watching. I didn't think the dynamic in the group would be as good without him. Apparently a lot of other people felt the same way. His character was a lot more appealing and popular than they realized.
Oh man, this is total *beep* After the awesome finale I was really looking forward to the next season. Well at least they ended with a great episode.
I wonder if the endings Santora tweeted were really what he planned on writing. They seem too... happy and convenient.
