Would you have shot the head SS officer in the head?

I know that wasn't their objective, but he was right out in the open so many times and the nazis seemed to want to take them alive (or so Jones figured), so what would be the down-side to shooting him?

I agree, it was totally inexplicable yet, I see that over and over. The guy in the black uniform with the shiny stuff all over it, barking orders and directing soldiers all about and all our guys do is look at him. The first bullet should have been for that officer. Disable their command and control and it's just a matter of picking off the foot soldiers.
