As far as the camo goes.... That really bugged me from the get go. Like you stated. The Germans were geared up for the terrain (Except the officer, and that made no sense what so ever. I mean the troops are ready to blend in, but for some reason the officer wears brown that blends so well with white....Can't figure why they did something so obviously backwards and didn't correct it).
As for the attack.....That's another big goof. There's no reason they couldn't have had another five or ten commandos with them so they could attempt to take over with stealth tactics. I know this was early days, but with the equipment they had for the times they really needed more fighters.
One last item I wondered about was the insertion........They were going to land that huge plane to off load, but had them ready with shoots just in case. They trained in ground tactics so unless they all had jump school elsewhere did they just wing it at the last moment? Second.....if they all had jump experience, then why wouldn't that be the plan for insertion? That makes far more sense than landing a huge plane. I really wonder how much of the movie was factual
