Dvd Release date, Us Or Jap ?

Someone know the date of the release ?

reply

It's out in Japan already.

The US release by Funimation is slated for early 2011, so I'd expect sometime before May. Judging by their releases of Robogeisha and Frankenstein Girl vs. Vampire Girl, the DVD/Blu-Ray will look incredible and feature a capable and entertaining English dub as well.

Amazon.com has a listing for a combo DVD/Blu-Ray release of Mutant Girls Squad by Funimation for September 27th, 2011. It's listed as a box set with a price of 29.95, so I'm not sure if they will release a cheaper version of just the DVD or Blu-Ray on its own.

Tokyo Shock/Mediablasters meanwhile has a May 24th release date for Gothic + Lolita Psycho (or as they are calling it: Psycho Gothic Lolita) for only 16.99. If you like any of the Sushi Typhoon splattergore movies, you should love G+LP, too. It has similar themes to Machine Girl and Samurai Princess mixed with some of the best direction I've seen in these direct to DVD movies.

Gothic and Lolita psycho! I'll buy it for sure, i've seen the trailer and its look awesome! The Dvd is available for pre-order.

i've seen, Machine Girl, Tokyo Gore Police, Vampire Girl VS. Frankenstein Girl and Robo geisha. I love this genre of over the top gorefest!

Thanks for the notice ice! ;)

Definitely check out Meatball Machine, Hard Revenge Millie, and Samurai Princess then.

I'd also recommend Big Tits Dragon, but the budget for that is paperthin and a lot of the special effects/gore effects are the kind where you can see the wires and such. But still... Sora Aoi.

I forget i've seen Hard Revenge Millie,

I seen the trailer for Meatball Machine, Samurai Princess and Big Tits Dragon like you recommend me and it seems over the top too. I Think i'll buy Big Tits Dragon soon.

I seen One Chambara, gore less but very funny.

Oneechanbara VorteX is the sequel and is a lot bloodier and has less of a heavy handed story, so you might like that. It wasn't my cup of tea since it seemed every punch landed on a zombie meant fake digital blood splattered on the camera lens.

If you've seen Mutant Girl Squad already or might have noticed some of the fight choreography in most of these movies, you might want to check into the movies of Tak Sakaguchi. He plays the Xavier-like leader of the mutants in this film and directs the first third. He's also an awesome martial artist. He's in a movie called Battlefield Baseball that's 100% comedy but includes some awesome choreography (and Mutant Girls Squad even includes a bit of an in-joke/callback to it). He's also the main character of the movie Virus, which is yakuza vs. zombies and might be up your alley.

Nope i dont seen Mutant Girl Squad yet but i'll pre-order it for 27Sept.
I did'nt know about the sequel "Vortex" for one chanbara and I'll buy it.

The movie of Tak Sakaguchi,
I already seen Versus, brilliant movie with awesome "cool" fight scene,
carismatic characters and a bit humorous but with serious i like it a lot.

I'll look forward for azumi 1&2 and Shinobi.

Just an update for everyone:

It looks like the Funimation September BluRay/DVD combo release was premature as Well Go USA has signed an 8 year deal with Sushi Typhoon that includes this movie.

It looks like they are releasing Helldriver first with Mutant Girls Squad later, but this movie is definitely part of the deal.

The good news is Well Go USA seems to have made a new relationship with Netflix so you can probably check these movies out on Netflix instant within a month of their release. They also seem to have stopped only letting the dubs of movies be streamed like they did with Samurai Princess if Hard Revenge Milly is any indication.

Also, if the Samurai Princess and Hard Revenge Milly releases are any indication, we should be getting some good full-of-extra releases for future Sushi Typhoon movies without any of the high mark up for needless box art prices of Funimation or Media Blaster's addiction of keeping extras off so they can keep re-releasing "special" editions every few months.
