Overrated *possible spoilers*

Apparently it was a Romanian entrant for best foreign picture at the Academy Awards at some stage and did well on the festival circuit, but I can't really see what the fuss was about.

There doesn't seem to be any clear message the film is pushing.

Silviu, despite being a model prisoner for his undetermined time at a prison farm managed, by a quite humane warden, spits it because of a potential domestic change in his family life and gets into a pretty unrealistic (IMO) hostage situation.

Yes, he wasn't very happy with the role his mother played earlier in his life, but so what?

I just found that I didn't have a lot of sympathy for Silviu and felt he was making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Good to see the warden wasn't a sadist for once, even though there was the usual mixed bag of fellow cons carrying on with their universally acknowledged culture of threats, deals and bullying.

The coffee for two ending was frankly laughable and just plain pretentious.

There are plenty of more constructive ways to spend an hour and a half of your life than watching this.
