Can I Explain It? No. Did I Dig It? YES

I cannot explain the deeper meanings of UNCLE BOONMEE, but I have been thinking about the film every day since i viewed it a week ago. Maybe I don't see enough films, but to me, this was different than anything I had ever seen. (even different than Lynch films, yes) I found the thing fascinating. From the very early dinner scene involving a ghost and a monkey ghost, absolutely ANYTHING was possible and there was no way of knowing what was coming next. It was slow, but I was riveted. I also liked the use of natural light and natural sounds, in lieu of a score.

I found UNCLE BOONMEE to be very original. Those who have seen it, did you find it as original, or is that just a product of my somewhat limited experience with foreign film??

LOL at this subject title. Yes OP I agree that this movie was very original and I like when I have no idea what's coming next. I thought it was slow, but even during the long shots, I was tensed up because I thought something spooky was going to jump out.

I do get somewhat frustrated at films like this that I really don't understand. When it ended, I yelled, "What??" at my TV. Why the duplicate characters in the end? Why the fish sex? Why the monkey ghosts? But all in all I found it more compelling than most films I watch.

I agree completely.

Very meditative, and just full of wonder and beauty.
