When Sergey Went To The Abandoned Cabin, Why Did He Not Bring...

Food, clean clothes or bedding? I thought one morning Pavel would wake up and see a box of food left at his door and maybe a big warm blanket. Instead, Pavel only brought one thing: a gun? Was Sergey's only intention to murder Pavel? The only thing Sergey said was the intimidating-sounding, "we have to talk"! Nothing close to an apology for shooting a loaded gun at Pavel and forcing Pavel to flee for his life...

Because he expected Pavel to come back to their base camp with him.

He always carried a gun away from their base camp. That was one of the things that Pavel was irresponsible about. I do not remember if it was wolves or bears or both that he was concerned about.

I fail to see how that is intimidating. When Pavel does not respond, Sergei essentially says, "Screw you. I tried. Stew in your own juices," and he fires the gun, but not at Pavel. [Edit: March 3, 1913. I am wrong about that, please see what silvertip wrote.imdb.com/title/tt1588875/board/inline/157415754?d=211269072#211269072]

I think it is true that a concern for Pavel's feelings was not the most important thing on Sergei's mind at that point. For easy markup in Firefox & Opera, see http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/42255

For the record, in case someone else reads this, that is not accurate. What Sergei says is:
PashaPasha, we have to talk.Pasha are you there?Pash?[And after Pasha runs out, he yells]Pasha
There is nothing intimidating or threatening in his voice at any point. Rather the opposite. For easy markup in Firefox & Opera, see http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/42255

Ha ha. So if I shoot at you...forcing you to go live in an abandoned building in a freezing cold location, and then bring the same gun with me the next day and then shoot that gun while telling you that you "HAVE" to talk...you won't feel intimdated or threatened?

It sounds like you've spent too long in that freezing cold shack. I might need to check your pulse! Oh...and don't mind the loaded rifle with me. I carry it everywhere I go.

Yes, Pavel feels threatened and he has some reason to feel that way. But as I've said before, he is not threatened. He is completely misreading the situation. The writer and director believes it is because he has seen too many movies.

I suggest that you watch the scene again, pay attention to the dialogue you missed the first time, and pay attention to Sergei's tone of voice. It is not at all threatening; rather the opposite. Pavel knows that he stepped on a vacuum tube that made a sharp sound before the gunshot.
