Plane

Does anyone know if the wrecked plane that Pasha found when working to the South Lagoon was the helicopter that was looking out for him? No survivers or remnants? Polar bear prints etc. Seemed a bit bizarre.

I don't think it was the helicopter that Pasha was expecting, it looked like a much older wreck to me.

I wondered the same thing. I think we are suppossed to conclude that the rescue chopper crashed, one of the crew made it out alive, and was killed by the bear. If that's the case, I don't think that part of the exposition was made very clear.

There was nothing to imply that the helicopter crashed. He could hear its blades from pretty far off, I'd assume a crash would be heard from even further away. The wreck looked pretty old and there was no smoke or disturbances to the landscape. Also no bodies or blood from the polar bear attacking anyone or eating someone already dead at that sight.

Pasha also seemed more concerned with the polar bear tracks than the wreck. If I came across the ruins of my only ride out I probably wouldn't notice smaller details like animal tracks, I'd be too freaked out and worried about finding any potential survivors. Pasha didn't seem concerned with the wreck, it was just a landmark that stood out in a bleak landscape which is probably why he was heading toward it.

If that was the helicopter Pasha was trying to signal then they did a terrible job of conveying that in the movie.
