Well, that was me, I guess. I noticed one or two parallels early on and then at some point -- maybe the balcony -- I realized and thought, "Good lord, they're going whole hog on the R&J references!"
It was fun, but I don't think the movie needed it. I might have preferred they not have quite so many overt R&J references.

NOT being able to admit you are wrong is a weakness.
I only really realized that it was R and Julie at the balcony scene. Then everything started clicking.
That said, realizing it late meant that it didn't really color my expectations for much of the movie, and I enjoyed it more that way. It wasn't Oscar-worthy or anything, but it was weirdly fun.
True love conquers all, guys. It was like Romeo and Juliet, but with a different message, and therefore, ending.
