Female ninja warrior competition.

It's going to happen eventually. The olympics are segregated so I don't want to hear anything along those lines of "it's not the same", "it's not the real thing", "it's an easier version."

Well the Olympics are the Olympics. This show is not...

reply

Well what do you want to hear?

Yes, I agree that if the show continues to be successful then a female only competition could happen. But I don't see the original show ever removing females entirely from the current format.

Judging by the appeal of the WNBA and other similar events, the long-term popularity of a female only NW competition would be much less than the existing male-dominated franchise.

I don't see why women would want a different course from the men's. I get that men and women are built differently and have to approach some courses differently (thinking of the Warp Wall since I'm watching the Team competitions right now), but not every person that tries out makes it anyway. The fact that the course is relatively similar for everyone just makes it all the more awesome to watch when women hit that final buzzer.
Should they make separate courses for men and women, I might not bother watching anymore. I like seeing people, men and women, competing with each other and even though they are competing, they all respect each other's talents because each one of them has gone through the courses. I just worry that changing a good thing like this would hurt the franchise in the long-run.

Good points. I agree with you

In Japan, there was something called "The Women of Ninja Warrior," so there's no reason it's not feasible here. I don't think the women who competed alongside the men in the regular contest entered this one.

Most of the people who competed on Sasuke, Japan's Ninja Warrior, were just normal people. It was a lot more like Wipeout. They weren't primarily people who work out and train all year long to try to become "professional ninjas".

I think it's a safe bet that no woman will ever win this competition. It's about as likely as a one-legged man winning it.
