Not a documentary about street art or banksy

This is a documentary about how a guy cockroached his way into a hot goldmine of street art. He was never an artist but was an associate of "banksy" and got a quote from "banksy" to promote himself. Who knows if he ever even knew banksy but the quote was disingenuous either way. Way to go art society, you made a millionaire out of this guy.

No Nate.

Banksy made a fool out of the art society, using this dweeby guy. The artwork is all Banksy's. Thierry couldn't even make a coherent video of his own work. There is no way he then becomes a master sculptor, painter and social commentator over the course of a few months.

Banksy wanted to show that he could trick the L.A. arts community into supporting any talentless hack, merely through the use of hype. People in L.A. (and everywhere) are often under the impression they can buy their way into coolness and he wanted to make fun of them for that. Hence the "Exit through the Gift Shop" title, which is the way most art museums make money from the people who visit. If you can't own a Picasso, you can own a Picasso refrigerator magnet and gain a bit of coolness, right?

(the only hole in Bansky's clever scam is that the people who purchased the "Mr. Brainwash" artwork were actually getting the work of a famous, genius artist and social commentator whose name is Banksy).
