The main character never evolved so it died.

The main character's stick up her butt killed this show. They never evolved the character. They were more interested in showing her shoes than any growth of character. The co-stars carried the show. They added a lightness to it all. She stomped around with her purse hanging off her hand, head straight... never looking left or right. It didn't work.

Look at "The Closer"... she evolved quickly and became likable.
Look at "Bones"... all of the characters have grown and changed.

The character was unlikable and it could not garner the support of other age groups.... you know I am right.

You're right.

Dana Delaney is a good actress but I guess the series never did her justice since despite Megan being rather intelligent but she seemed to have a hard time opening up to people which often came across as snobbish.

reply

Did you watch the finale tonight? You would have gotten an answer as to why she behaved like she did.

reply

Good actress ?
Surly you jest!
She is as wooden as a log cabin!

Yes...

Yes...
The Crossing Jordan rip off is gone.

They were more interested in showing her shoes

Shoes Dana Delaney was clearly incapable and uncomfortable walking in.

Do characters ever evolve in this type of series ? It was a week by week mystery where the set up was established at the start. Assuming the chemistry works, and for me it was OK, then really they're just dependent on the writers to find an interesting story each week. But you're probably correct it's an age group thing wot dun 'em in - the very good cast didn't hook the target demographic that the narrow minded, tunnel vision afflicted marketeers desire.

I'll miss it.

I thought her character being "stuck" was perfectly reasonable given her history.
Now with so issue resolved, perhaps some growth would be possible.
Alas, we will never get to see it.

no evolution doesn't need to be a problem, so long as the character itself is allowed to have sufficient depth; the problem with Hunt was that she mostly consisted of cardboard.

"Not sure what magical rating the show was supposed to get that others weren't. The show had higher ratings than Scandal, and way higher ratings than Nashville. ABC had no real excuse to cancel it."

Yes, ABC did.

Scandal was created by Shonda Grimes. Anything with Shonda Grimes associated with it is going to be gold for ABC. Scandal also holds its own against the very popular Elementary on CBS plus Kerry Washington is a great actress.

As far as Nashville, it gets the 18-49 demographic. It appeals to the younger crowd and agree or disagree, Country is the most popular genre of music today.

BOP was a stodgy procedural that attracted the fogies and was in a very weak time slot.

I always thought she was suspose to be a female Greg House who never evolved as well.

i agree with the original poster. i was more interested in the other characters than her anyway. Ethan and Curtis had the best chemistry on screen. One thing i could not understand is how did the writers feel they could convince the audience in the whole tommy/megan/the other detective love triangle. here is a young attractive female that's crazy about tommy, and he's chasing megan who's playing teenage games every episodes. the main thing i hated about this show.

Personally don't think the writers were trying to have Riley (the other detective) seem like a real threat to the Tommy/Megan relationship. I mean the only reason why Tommy asked her out in the beginning was because Megan had turned him down.

It just seemed like he was settling for Riley. Yeah it doesn't make sense because "here is a young attractive female that's crazy about Tommy, and he's chasing Megan who's playing teenage games every episode" as you said.

But it seemed to me like it was more one sided. In one of the episodes Tommy even told Adam that basically, he knew Riley was interested in him but didn't really care.

I concur. Never felt like her character was fleshed out. She came across as uppity and a know-it-all.
Very unlikeable character. She had no soft qualities, no relatable flaws.
