WAAAAAAAAA!!!!

WAAAAAAAA!!

This will get jumped all over by quite a few. HAHAHA...But really, get over it already. How many hurricanes and floods and tornados and natural disasters have there been since then? Quite a few.. The difference between those and Katrina? Some people are willing to pick themselves up, whether with help or not, and play a little game of Life Goes ON!!!! Try having more pride in yourselves and not waiting on the gov'ment to swoop in a wipe you ass all the time. Hurricanes have been hitting for years before this, and I can't say 100 percent... But they will continue to hit. The difference maker here is the individuals involved. 5 years later and some are still stuck where they were the day after. Pathetic. Oh, and I never understood why, in the midst of the aftermath, with no food, water, etc, big screen televisions were such a priority... Keep it real.

"WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW IS THIS: in the eastern part of New Orleans is a large Vietnamese community. Their entire low-lying area was totally flooded by Katrina. Shortly after the flood Mayor Ray Nagin wrote the area off saying it was not salvagable and thus would get no help from the city to rebuild. What did the Vietnamese residents do? They didn't scream, cry, shout racial epithets, or get dramatic. They simply rolled up their sleeves and quietly rebuilt their community themselves. The entire community. In fact, for all intent and purposes, their community (as big as the Lower 9th Ward btw) was back up and running by February/March 2006 - less than a year after the storm. Nagin had no choice but to turn the power back on, provide policemen, etc. It was a success story.

Its a tale of how 2 communities handle the same problem in entirely different ways - with entirely different results. The Vietnamese area is just fine and has been for over 4 years now. And their community had been decimated. They are very hard-working and they handled it internally. They took care of their business themselves and didn't scream and shout for others to fix their community.

Blacks on the other hand have been taught to take this scream and shout approach by their modern leaders such as Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. What a tragedy."

This what another person said. It is very clear and articulate and true.

Always easy for some idiot from the outside saying, "get over it". Its easier for some people to recoup than others. People who are poor or don't have any other resources find it harder to pick themselves up. Especially if you've not only lost all of your home and belongings, but also your loved ones. Let's see how easy it is for you to just "pick up" and recover after you lose all of these factors.
