Good start-bad ending

The story of Sleeping beauty is about the seasons of the year, that's why the three fairies have names related of spring, summer and autum while the four fairy is the winter, a rose in the winter that's the symbolism of the whole tale, therefore Disney doesn't have too much material in the background of Maleficent, I like the idea of the movie about the betrayal of king Stephan, that will explain the whole bitterness of Maleficent about the king's family, but then the story just lost the idea, the movie just became in a fanfiction and forgot the way that Maleficent was portrayed in the animated movie, bitter, angry, evil and crazy, this last factor was avoid in the Jolie's movie, she was just too good to be her. One interesting fact that the movie doesn't want to expose is how this fairy became a witch, what kind of rituals she did for that, the rest of the movie is sad to watch, and she didn't took the shape of a dragon, which was even sadder...

If you can, I can too...

I enjoyed the seasonal symbolism which is important in magic. Thankfully the swishing and swooping fight scenes didn't last that long at the beginning and end of the movie.

The one thing you forgot to mention is that Maleficent was using magic ever since she was a girl. Remember that first scene of her, when she was laying in the tree and used her magic to heal a broken tree branch? Maleficent Didn't need to learn how to practice witchcraft; magic came naturally for her ever since she was little
