I feel sorry for Sam Riley...

...That he was made into Angelina Jolie's pet in a kids movie. The role of Diaval was far below his talent, and even an unknown actor could've done the same job and the quality of the movie would've been the same. I've seen Sam's entire filmography and most of his role are leading roles in brilliant dramas and crime thrillers because he can carry an entire film by himself. But even Sam confessed in several interviews that he only got this acting job in 'Maleficent' because he was out of work for quite a long time due to the fact that he moved from the UK to Germany, and because he saw Angelina Jolie was in it he thought it would be a good movie, but boy was he wrong! This movie came across as Avatar meets Sleeping Beauty, but not in a good way. However, Angelina Jolie's performance was pretty good, and that's the only upside of this made-for-kids popcorn fairytale.
