New show with the same humor?

Can anyone recommend some new show with that sort of 'cleaver greene' character and\or humor?
just finished watching the 3 seasons and can't find a new show to fill the gap
honestly.
i'm getting bored
tried a few new shows and stopped after 2-3 episodes

I'm marathonning through the three seasons ATM. Rake is an entity in itself, but some recent shows I've enjoyed are Hand of God, Master of None, Community, and Episodes. On a serious front, Happy Valley just started up season 2 and I can't recommend season 1 enough. Also both seasons of Line of Duty, though 2 is the better of them, but one needs to see all of 1 to appreciate and understad 2 fully. Two other shows which are solid are Shetland and Wolfe Hall. Season 3 of Shetland is riveting, but again one nneds to start at the beginning to understand the full dynamics. Might also try Glitch, and if you like John Noble, then Fringe is a must see, though the 100 episode marathons are taxing. ;-)

Also, Upper Middle Bogan.

I think my percentage of Chimp DNA is higher than others. Cleaver Greene

I agree with sluggr that Happy Valley and Line Of Duty are both excellent if you just want good TV but they are not similar to Rake at all. I'd suggest Rescue Me although it goes downhill in the later seasons. The main character is a fireman and also a kind of loveable *beep* type just like Cleaver is. There's so much good TV but there's not many self destructive anti hero type characters that practice law that I can think of. If you just want a good lawyer show The Good Wife and Suits are good. Hope this helps!! I'm currently starting season 3 of Rake and am loving it so far! Trying to catch up by next week when the 3rd episode of season 4 airs :)

I would agree with Rescue Me, although I stopped watching after a certain event which made the show too depressing.

Honestly, I can't think of anything similar to Rake (dont bother with the horrendous US remake) but I would recommend East of Everything with Richard Roxburgh. Also, Tangle which has some of the cast from Rake. Both excellent Aussie dramas.

There is only one Cleaver Greene.

If we are talking self destructive, then Eddie Fitzgerald of Cracker fame is their king.

The current season 4 of Maron is also pretty good and pretty real. The guys on Silicon valley are pretty self-destructive, though it has more to do with social incompetence than malice.

And of course Gregory House.

Shetland is another show which is full of somewhat eccentric characters doing their best not to succeed.

Along comedy lines there is the inimitable Green Wing and an obscure show, Testees, about two losers who support themselves as guinea pigs for a Big Pharma company.

Maybe try Archer?

Californication is the only show I can think of that has the same humour and deeply flawed but likeable main character.

"Flaked" with Will Arnett as a sobriety guru who doesn't really walk the walk.

I agree, Cleaver Greene and Hank Moody could be soul mates.

Hank Moody has no soul.

Maybe Curb Your Enthusiasm and Seinfeld. I think Larry David is kind of similar to Cleaver Greene in Curb anyways.

I was recently turned onto Black Books, a UK comedy series from 2000-2004. I have found myself working through the careers of Mark Heap and Tamsin Grieg. Tamsin is also in "Episodes" which is a blackish comedy about Hollyweird.

Try the first season of 'Vexed'. They buggered about with the second season and lost a lot of its charm but the first season is great fun.

I was walking through a store parking lot this morning and passed a Porsche SUV with a "baby on board" placard. Just cracked me up.
