Does it pick up after season 7?

I loved the first season. Especially when the family came up with various funny scams that fixed their problems and set their enemies in their place.

Then the show got progressively more depressing with each season, with loooong bouts of alcoholism, drug abuse, bipolar disorder, etc.. Just all around sad storylines that went on and on and on. And even when once in a while they made you think that one of these issues might be over and done with, they slapped you right back down with even more of the same old material.

It's like the writers tried their utmost to drain the show of any entertainment value what so ever. And season 7 was just a pain to get through, so I just stopped watching after that.

But does it pick up again and find back to it's more entertaining roots after that? Or is it just more of the same depressing sludge...?

There are some good parts, but the later seasons pushes more and more woke sjw-agenda into the viewers face in a not so suble matter.

Ugh, can't stand that.

Thanks for the heads up.

It goes to shit with extreme wokeness after season 7 it was a chore to watch but i managed to finish the series. They should have ended it at 7 or even 6.

I just started watching this show a few months ago, I'm on season 9 and just finished Ep3. I'm about ready to stop watching. Season 8 was trash and 9 is not getting any better. I'll probably tough it out and watch it all just to see what happens but yeah, it's getting pretty bad.

This show was quite funny for about 6 seasons. I did like season 7 though, it wasn't too bad.

From season 1 ep1 and beyond, the least interesting character on the show has to be Carl. lol...

They just couldn't seem to write anything that was half-way decent for this poor kid. I feel bad for Ethan Cutkosky (Carl Gallagher). Must have been tough reading that script every year for his character and thinking, "wow, really"?

That said, my favorite character might actually be Mickey (played by Noel Fisher). His acting is top notch in this show. Just very raw and authentic. And of course, Frank and Fiona are great too. Young Debbie was so sweet and another favorite of mine, the expressions she would get on her face at times were really charming... But the older Debs is getting kinda.. well... old.

Anyhow, I'll give the first 7 seasons a very solid 8.0 out of 10. Not sure what to say from here. We'll see what happens.
