The Untouchables Theorum

When I was a little kid, I used to watch reruns on the Untouchables in syndication. This was years after the show left primetime, and years later I learned that Elliot Ness was a one trick pony, with his Al Capone bust his claim to fame. Even as a kid, I found it incredible that he would be chasing Ma Barker in Florida, Nazi'z in New York City, but the icing on the cake was when he was in Edison New jersey, and bootleggers were shipping beer through the water pipes used for fire hydrants. Even at that young age, I was waving the BS flag. My point is, he managed to go everywhere and interface with every major criminal throughout the 1920's and 1930's.

Now, the first time I ever watched this show was the other day. My DVR was supposed to record Operation Repo (guilty pleasure, I know), but i had a few episodes of thsi show instead. The limited episodes that I watch have left me wondering how does this guy travel all over the South, righting wrongs, and it seems that his clients have no money to pay him.

The first episoded was regarding an adult novelty shop owner who suspects his employees are stealing. I don't know why he went to the trouble of hiring them when he could have just fired them. Then there was the parents who were worried that their son was being beaten. They hired the crew to follow the kid, and sicover a fight club. Then they busted a phony repo guy stealing cars.

A few questions. How much does this guy charge to take on a case? Why don't these clients ever think of calling the police for what is obviuosly criminal activities being committed? And why does the girl carry around the the hand held video recorder, when the television crews is filming the same things they are observing?

My conclusion, a total waste of time, not even worth the effort to watch as background noise while watching beer. He travels all over, takes on any case, stands up for people that no one else will, and makes the world safe dogs and children. I can't decide if he is Elliott Ness or Hannibal Smitrh from the A-Team.
