How is it not Kidnapping?

So some of these people on the team are cops or were at one point.

But if they are not carrying a badge and not sworn in to the county they are in, how are they able to 'arrest' people and detain them without due process?

So either one is to swallow this 'plot hole' and accept this show as 'reality' or the more obvious choice that this show is staged from front to back.

Non-police officers can legally affect a citizens' arrest in most states (maybe all states).

And if that person has an outstanding warrant or is wanted by the police, the police will usually cooperate. If anyone sees a crime occuring, they can legally detain that person and wait for police to arrive so that they can arrest them based on the evidence collected. I believe it does happen in real life, just not the way it's portrayed on this show. This is for entertainment only. I loved the one last night of Jay and Willie chasing a nude man across the lawn. They were arguing about who was going to tackle him. Hilarious!!

that and...this show is entirely staged.

If you look at the cast they are all actors. That in and of itself tells you that the show is fake. The outrageous storylines are also giveaways. In one show every single story had one or more people physically attacking the 'police'. I have watched the show Cops for as long as it has been on the air...it is a true reality show...rarely do you see someone attack the officers. In one they locked a guy in a chicken coop...that would be against the law. This show is very outlandish. It's hard to believe that anyone would think the show is real lol.
