load o'white people.

I'm pretty sure that they threw JLO and her husband and ethiopian child in there so people couldn't say "Where are all the other ethnicities?". Yes, and also Chris Rock, but he was a side character and we only saw his wife once. Would it have killed them to make ONE of the other couples something besides WASPs?

I'm saying this as a white person! sheesh!

tell him about the twinkie.

You're making it an issue out of nothing tbh. If they didn't have a visible minority in the movie, it's called racist. Even though this movie has a lot of them in it, you're claiming it was thrown in on purpose so its still racist. So either way its racist at according to you.

I don't normally notice this, but agreed.

Think it was all the blonde women. Then again, non c-list actresses like Emma Stone, Ellen Page, or Michelle Monaghan wouldn't come near this film. Maybe Isla Fischer could have replaced someone?

Besides Banks, it's an ensemble cast of good looking people who are forced into bad movies for a paycheck.

How was this a bad movie? I've gone through four pregnancies; three full term and one miscarriage, and one of the full terms should have been twins, and I can identify with just about every one of these couples. There was a lot of truth in the comedy.

Three of the five women were blondes. And I doubt if any of them were "forced" into anything. Stop making shlt up to fit your narrow minded POV.

A little aggressive, eh?

Not sure what I'm making up here. Sometimes actors take the best job their agents can find. Many of these actors haven't done anything of note for years. I didn't say they were "all blonde". I said "all of the blondes."

Anyway. Look at the general critical ratings. It's a 22% on RottenTomatoes, meaning about 1 in 5 critics gave it a thumbs up. I can't sum up all of the reasons why it's a "bad" film, but the writing, direction and acting are largely mediocre. Chase Crawford should be a tip off. I don't hate the actors; I'm just acknowledging that half of them are mediocre at best.

No need to be defensive. I like plenty of "bad" films that I "identify" with. "Truth" can be written in a laughable manner, though. Like what you want. I'll like what I want because I have the right to think a film is "good" or "bad."

...

Back to the original point. As someone who is half-White, I agree with the OP. Three blonde, White women out of five demonstrates an obvious lack of diversity.

reply

Five women. Three were white, that's 60%. That's under representing whites. Actually, if you count Ms. Diaz as a Hispanic, it lowers the percentage even more. So, 40% were Caucasians, 40% were Hispanic and 20% were black. Whites were under represented any way you look at it and Hispanics and blacks were over represented, so, how is this anything but PC?

reply

Who cares? Get over it and move on.

How do you know they're WASPs?

Being born in Cuba doesn´t make anyone necessairly non-white.
This is like saying, "XYX is whit efor he´s born in the US."

I'm black, and I found no problem with this movie. The characters fit their roles perfectly.

reply

You can say this about every movie in Hollywood, it's very unrealistic and disappointing. They had a few characters of color here so that's kind of better than most.
