The movie says he killed himself while in PRISON, after receiving a life sentence. By the time arraignment, preliminaries, pretrials, hearings to contest sanity and psych evals, trial by jury, then sentencing take place... Year or more. No hospital would keep a patient on suicide watch at the facility for that long.

Not that it's a major deal, movie DID still have some thrills in it, and it IS just a movie, so they can create their own realities... But I agree with the OP on this, massive inaccuracies. Bad acting, bad editing...

Remember the beginning, the 911 call. Tom tells the 911 operator that "they" killed my family, killed my sister, even screws up and says that it/they killed his mom. Start it again! Listen to the 911 call at the beginning, swear it says that his mom got killed.

Also, do you remember the part where the phone starts ringing when he had the bells hung up and was retreated to his room by the spirit? He's in his room, phone starts ringing. He makes his way back to the living room and picks up his phone from the glass table. It's his SMARTPHONE, and it hadn't even lit up during the rings! BUT... The same telephone ring was in the movie earlier, followed by an older-style answering machine.
