conflicting themes

i just watched the 1st episode, and i am kinda confused about the "message behind". or maybe the creators haven't decided on it yet

so - Drag Race is about loving yourself, accepthing who you are etc - all those guys who do drag usually share stories of being bullied at school, having problems with family etc... which many of them overcome, accept who they are and what the love to do - drag.

great! positive message!

now - Drag U.
i feel that this has the opposite message. now RuPaul and Co are telling those women that they are "wrong women" and need to change. find inner diva. whatever... and i am not sure i like that.

why cant a tom-boy woman be happy and content?

and on top of all that, those women who didnt have much confidence to begin with, are JUDGED at the end. "sorry honey your presentation sucked ass".

The point is these women aren't happy and content and that's why they've come on the show. They're not saying all tomboys are awful, but these particular women have asked to be on the show because they'd like to change. They'd like to be divas, but don't feel like they can. Although I agree that the judging at the end seems unnecessary.

you are right, of course. but i think it is something that needs to be more explicit

Well, there has only been one show. Maybe they'll improve.
