Falcuty?

Ok, here's the burning question: why on earth does RuPaul refer to the judges as "Falcuty"? Does he actually not realize that the word is actually "Faculty," not "Falcuty"? Or does he think all words that begin with F work the same way the name "Brett Favre" does, where you reverse the letters to pronounce it? Or it is some sort of pun, like "Draguate" instead of "Graduate," and I just don't get it? Or what?

I have to admit, this drives me insane every week.

reply

I'm glad I'm not the only person that noticed that. Drives me crazy too.

reply

It sounds like he's saying "Palpatine." AAAAARGH.

I thought I was hearing things until I paid particular attention to it and realized that he was in fact saying Falcuty! I cringe every time he does it.

This is EXACTLY what I was comiong here to ask. I get "Draguate", but what the flaming hell is "falcuty"? (I hope glassrabbit's answer isn't true, but considering the whole "Charisma, Uniqueness, Nerve and Talent" thing from Drag Race it may be.)

reply

I don't care WHAT RuPaul is saying, "Falcuty" or whatever, it drives me insane. It's like driving a railroad spike thru my skull every time. Between the fake moustache, sock-less shoes and "Falcuty"... I just nearly puke every time Drag-U comes on. If RuPaul is slipping a little N into Falcuty then that's just NASTY.

So change the channel. Geez.

reply

Why tell me to change the channel when everyone on this thread is carrying on about the same thing... you need to step OFF....seriously

reply

Why tell me to change the channel...?

Maybe because everyone else is just trying to figure out why he says "falcuty" and you're saying how bad Ru looks and that the show makes you want to puke every time it comes on, ya' think? It just stands to reason that if you hate it so much you shouldn't watch it, duh.

reply

I never noticed but I just looked at an episode and he said falculty. He pronounced the l in the right place too and not just fal so I think he just can't say the word right lol.

I thought I wasn't listening well. English is my second language and after his saying falcuty, I repeated in my head, isn't it faculty? I don't know why Ru pronounces it like that. He doesn't say something like fal-cute-y to make you think he wants accentuate the word cute.

reply

It could just be a dialect thing, saying "fal-cu-ty" versus "fac-ul-ty"

reply

I'm almost certain he's saying "foul-cuty" or "foul-culty". The first syllable is definitely more like "foul" than "fal".

It's puzzled me as well - i thought he was calling them "false" since they are not actually professors.. false faculty, mash them together and you get "falcuty"

It had been annoying me until a previous poster pointed out the "n" - very typical of the humor of the show that way. Now I'll just laugh.
