Too Many Fake Reviews

I realize this is a micro budget Indie horror flick but having a bunch of users come on and give it a 10/10 is ludcirous. You are saying this film is better than the Shawshank Redemptions, The Godfather, and any other movie ever made.

I suspect this strategy will backfire because people will probably be angered and rate ir lower just because of the misleading "fake reviews" done by people involved witht he film.

I rate the ilms as I see them as I gave this one a 3 out of 10 and two points are only for the potential that the stories had. They could have been good if their were actual actors in this film and not just regulr John an Hane Doe's who have not ever acted before in their life and who will never again "act".

The\is movie lacks horro, suspense, comedy, and the acting. The acting is not so bad that it is funny but so bad that it just makes you cringe.

I highly advise horror fans (and anyone else) to avoi this film because words cannot describe how bad this is.

As much as I have trashed the movie, I still contend themovie would have potentia wiht competent actors, a much sharper script, and more money to give it better production values. The 3/10 rating is there only for the unrealized potential of the stories. The film probably deserves a 2/10 if I look past the potential with competent people involved..

I can see where you're coming from, but I gave this movie 6/10 just for keeping me watching because of how silly it was. First you had the lady who complimented the guy in the first story for being so smart with computers, when all he did was tell her the ethernet cable wasn't plugged in.

The second story was even funnier. The cop in it reminded me of Dwayne Wade.

I have no issue with you giving it a six because you enjoyed the campiness of the movie. The Cat-5/6 cable not plugged in actually happenss a lot more in real life than you would think.

I was specifically targeting a bunch of initial reviewss which were obviously done by people involved and even calling it the greatest horror flick in decades, etc and the fact that all the initial reviewers gave the movie a 10 out of 10

reply

I also gave this a 6/10 but then I have a taste for Frank Henenlotter films and this really reminded me of those.

As the movie gets more views those usually gets voted down and stop appearing. this trend happens in all small budget movies at thier beginning. however some of them doesnt get to the point where unbiased reviews start showing up.
I dont know how much i will give it, its not over yet, but it does look like a 3/10 for me.

It does usually happen on small budget movies but big studio movies will do the same thing for crappy releases especially bad theatrical ones where they make the mmajority of their money during the opening weekend.

I understand your point about the bad reviews cancelling out the fake ones but at what point do you just have to decide IMDB rating system is mostly worthless?

Dont get me wrong, I love IMDB and I tend to go more by the written reviews. The point system is kind of turned into a joke because fanboys of certain franchise will vote movies they want to see 10/10 before they have seen it.

I believe at one point Snakes on a Plane was ranked in the Top 25.

Yes movies tend to get more accurate over time but older movies tend to get lower scores than new movies due to raving famboys rating movies 10/10.

however big studio movies also attract a lot more audience which end up writing their own reviews and the fake ones get hidden very fast.
Im not saying you should trust them, by all means, use your own head. i never watch a movie or not watch it just because of a review or rating. fanboys do tend to do that, watch at transformers or the dark knight scandal, when trying to get TDK into top 1 all fanboys started voting top 5 movies a 1 to bring them down, which is how godfather lost its lead.

Let me preface this statement that I liked Memento, Batman Begins, and the Dark Knight. I thought the Dark Knight was a very good movie but not great. However, there are a ton 0f Nolan Fanboys who do exactly what you say. They get completely offended if peeople dont think Nolan novies are the greatest movies of all time. I personally think Inception is one of the most 0verrated movies in history but novie likes and dislikes are subjective. However The Fanbooys will vote all movies above TDK a 1 and give the TDK a 10. I really dont know how IMDB can stop it.

I like the aggregated scores that Metacritic uses (I like the critics they use more than Rotten Tomatoes).

All I can say is that any movie made in the mid 90s and before that has a score of 8.0 or better is probably7 great because most Fanboys are teenagers that have not seen movies older than they arel The older Top 250 movies have legitemaically earned their status.

The only thing IMDB could due is have a forumula that weights 10/10s less in the first week of allowed voting if the movie has a mnean of 6 or 7 but if you start weighting the scores thyen that would open up a whole new can of worms.

Wow, I looked at this film and watched it for about 3 min, I work a lot and don't have the time to waste on stupid terribly low budget films like this. *beep*, I hate when this happens you get a cool cover a really cool premise and then you turn it on and it looks like *beep* This is truly Fake and Gay! Man! When will these *beep* learn not to false advertise. I hate that!

Now if your going to make a low budget film and release a DVD you should at least print on the back of the DVD case what the film REALLY looks like, instead of being all fake, by putting fake, super clear, and perfect pics on, for the release, that are not even part of any scene of the film you just stole it to make your film look watchable. That pisses me off the most!

I've been disappointed by so many of these covers and rented crap, until I started realising what production companies they are. And from my knowledge they are VELOCITY FILMS, KABOOM ENTERTAINMENT, just to name a couple. But due to todays economy I'm sure these backyard film companies have been busy sprouting more and more *beep* sub companies.

All I have say is, do your research, look at what company supported the film, and released it. If it's crap then 9 times out of 10 it will be *beep*
