So Let Me Get this Straight...

...as long as you guys thought it was a "real" reality program, you were happy to watch, but when you think the show is scripted, you won't watch it anymore?

Scripted or not, I actually find this show way more entertaining than a lot of TV programs that air these days, and that includes most of the crap that airs on Animal Planet.

I don't care what the Animal Planet promos say. It's about the pit bulls. (Shorty obviously keeps this thing on the air to educate the public about pit bulls and to make money for his rescue.) And that's good enough for me to watch.

I don't believe it is as scripted as some people think. They probably throw in some basic scenarios that are scripted and let the rest take it's natural course--pretty much like most reality shows. But, whatever, I love this show, the people on it, the situations they get themselves into and the rescues. I'm always liking the rescues. Makes you feel good when they rescue the dogs.

All reality shows are scripted. I know this. I can get past that. What I can't get past is that this show is starting to get very lame. The whole thing between Ashley and Little Diva got old quick.

Ashley letting the power go to her head? Possible, but with her personality, it just seemed too forced. I would think that she'd be more than happy to call up Shorty in some of those instances and say, "Hey, so and so refuses to do "x." What do you want me to tell him/her?"

Now, here is where I do have a problem with things being scripted/staged. "Ashely's new job to the sleazy talent scout/agent/whatever, was VERY fake." OK, stage/script things, fine, but try and make it SOMEWHAT believable!

And a lot of the rescues they go on where the they're searching for the dogs? Really? They don't know where the dogs are, but the cameras know just where to find them to get them on camera, "hiding?" Add to that the constant comments of, "OMG! This dog was heading right for me, and I didn't know if it was going to bite me or what!" And the camera "happens" to catch the dog running toward whoever made the comment, and you can CLEARLY see the dog isn't afraid, and ISN'T baring its teeth, but the tongue is lolling out of its mouth in a happy, friendly manner, and it's clear that the dog is running because it was either directed to, or because it's enjoying running and thinks the whole thing is some game.

That's what I find increasingly annoying about this show. The obvious fakeness of it.

That said, I loved the show the first two seasons. It didn't have a scripted/staged feel. At least, not like it has for the last two seasons. I do though, have to thank Shorty and Crew because I have been educated on Pit Bulls, and I am glad there are people like this fighting hard for this breed. I think that people need to stop believing the crap that the media spits out, which is nothing but lies. The majority of the dog attacks they "Claim" are pit bull attacks, 9 times out of 10, turn out to be a completely different breed of dog, but it's the pit bull that gets the blame, every time.

Thanks to the EARLY SEASONS of this show, when I was finally ready for a new dog, I went to one of my local shelters. There were at least FIVE pit bulls or pit bull mixes there. I wound up adopting one of the mixes. I am proud to own her. She's a beauty, and she's smart, and she's funny, and she loves almost everyone (yes, there so far are two people she dislikes, but one of them definitely deserves it. The second one, I'm working with her on to get her over her dislike). I have also worked hard with her to get her to get along with other dogs. She went from NO dog social skills to now being able to handle being with up to FIFTY other dogs of different shapes, sizes, ages, and both genders at ONE TIME, in a matter of a few short months.

No, not all pit bulls will be able to be with other dogs, but most can with some effort on the owner's part.

This is one of the best breeds out there, and definitely deserves a fighting chance, and needs people to get over their ignorance regarding this BEAUTIFUL, LOVING breed! I would happily adopt another one!

Bottom line is even if the show was 100% scripted and that makes shorty the most money for the dogs then great ! Its about saving the best breed of dogs in the world from the hands of ignorant n stupid pieces of *beep* who know nothing about them
