This HAD to be a comedy.

It was advertised as a drama (which it was) but there were far too many comedic moments.

I'm afraid my husband and I just ended up laughing. Not with it, but at it.
And poor Sue Johnston was much too old.

"Pray, do not use it ill. It fought at Waterloo".

Yeah, whilst Billie Piper was passionate the usually wonderful Sue Johnston just came across as nutty and selfish. AND Barbara Marten, she of uncertain age, acted Sue off the screen!

I really like part one, I got swept up in the passion and the suspense that Moira might just find out. Part two was not what I thought it would be. I agree Sue Johnston did come across as selfish but what I found really hard to believe is. If you were on a roof and All emergency services turned up would you really be able to continue on to the wedding reception and then a trip in a hot air baloon?

I have never been in the situation of messing up my sons wedding then climbing on a roof but surely wouldn't the police, medics and all professionals involved want to take her for questioning, after all it cost a lot of money for all services to be called out. Would not a doctor want to question her a bit to see her state of mind? Would she really be able to continue her day without first justifying her irrational behaviour?

I felt that Betty was a very selfish person in part one and two, I felt sorry for Moira and equally Donald more than anyone.

Must add though that Theo James is a gorgeous hunk of manhood!! and it was worth watching just to see him. Good perfomance by him and Billie I thought.Loved the accurate costumes and decor for that period.

I watched this on BBC IPlayer. I enjoyed the drama, but I felt a bit disappointed with part 2, the older Betty's personality was nothing like the Betty in part 1.
