To what does the title refer?

What was unforgiveable in this film?

reply

Everything. But mostly, making the movie in the first place.

A very, very good film.

Not great but very good - it explores the things we do in or personal lives that hurt those with whom we are in relationship. It examines the painful things we say and do - and how, somehow, we still love and trust and carry on.

There are a few filmmakers whose efforts, even if not completely succesful, are better than anything studios and corporate crafted film projects can produce. Unforgiveable is one of those films by a filmmaker whose failures are better than most directors so called successes.

It's not for everyone.
But neither are 30 year old cognac or an original Chagall.

Watch daytime TV much? You must love it, if you liked this crappy movie. I nearly choked on the odor of Tide

This is from the subtitles at the very beginning of the movie. The writer is giving a lecture:

"A woman who refuses her role as mother, her marital family and social bonds, she takes the plunge into the unknown. Unforgivable"

While we are all entitled to an opinion, mine would not include the word "dreck", however it's a long way from "unforgettable".

Perhaps the movie could have taken place anywhere, but its Venetian settings are a huge visual bonus. As someone else pointed out, not the typical tourist, postcard locations were used, more the back streets(?) that are seldom seen.

For those of us who struggle with a single language, I marvel at those who can switch between two and three languages with such ease.

I wouldn't recommend sacrificing a Saturday night to watch this film but on a rainy Sunday afternoon, it's better than TV.

this is definately not for everyone.

just kind of meanders about.
sort of showing how people get along...not in a good way.

yes it meandered, nearly to a fault.

i stayed with it to the finish, but i must say it was WAY DIFFERENT from the impression i got from the trailer. i expected a real nail biter of a thriller/mystery, something involving a murder, which was CLEARLY implied from the trailer. i kept waiting for the murder element to pop off but it never did.

now, i did enjoy the scenery a great deal. usually i will attack a bait and switch movie like this but this time i will let it slide, since it was so visually appealing.

also the director really achieved a great effect of atmosphere in this film. the use of sound, sunlight, casting locations. it made you feel you were there.

could have worked on a proper plot, though. :(

Probably a reference to the writer's obsessions and what he did because of them.

I got into this because I like films about writers, but this one really didn't work for me. I guess they were going for something that's truly like real life, but at some point someone needed to say "Hey! Just because you have some characters and scenes doesn't mean you have a coherent movie!"

But I always wanted to make my own movie? Free trip to Venice? Something like that was the only motivation I could understand here.
