RZA should consider abandoning acting altogether...

and re-focus his career somewhere else, perhaps working as narrator for the Mortal Kombat games... that 'Snake Eyes wins' at the beginning when Snake and Jinx are training reminded me of the times I played MK back in the day... maybe the game could use his 'hood accent' to spark interest in younger audiences or something

I agree. He ruined that whole sequence in Japan with Storm Shadow testifying.

reply

yeah... the part when he bounces that stick against the ground... wth was that?

reply

@AdrFax,

That's not even the part that killed me. The part that ruined it for me was when he was giving Snake Eyes a lecture on how Jinx is trustable. I was like "Really? His entire dialogue ruined the training sequence and made it feel like a cheap direct to DVD martial arts film.".

reply

I tried to keep an open mind—after all, the best actor in the movie (after Jonathan Price) is a former wrestler—but RZA is the proverbial sore thumb giving his little Yoda speeches.

Darth... you ARE the Father!

reply

I agree.
RZA is a man with many talents but acting is not one of them.

reply

Yeah... I couldn't believe what I was seeing. RZA should just stick to what suits him best: music.

Logan, buddy. It's me, Deadpool! I shot youuuuuu....

reply

RZA was good in American Gangster...but that was about it.

At least they didn't cast DMX, he'd be barking like a dog in all of his scenes. I can see and hear it now.

The War has only begun, will you defend your destiny?

You mean "twustabou" and she should be "nimbou" as a cat?

reply

oh man... what a good laugh that comment gave me... but yes... that weird attempt at an accent is truly unforgivable... seriously what were the producers thinking? aside from saving a few bucks on payroll that is...

reply

who the hell is RZA?

reply

Pretty much the head dude of the Wu-Tang Clan (a rap group).

reply

But true hip-hop heads know it's really GZA aka The Genius. Embarrassing himself and his group with poor acting like this is not what a true leader would do.

reply

I'm guessing that there aren't enough people who would see the film because RZA is in it to compensate for whatever salary they paid him.

reply

Totally agree, he was awful - and half the time you couldn't even understand what he was saying!

reply

Just rented this & couldn't believe he was given this role. Why do they keep putting him in front of a camera & giving him money for it?

"Why are you the way that you are?...I hate...so much about the things that you choose to be..."

reply

Oh hell, everyone is thinking it, I might as well say it: who's bright idea was it to come up with a BLIND, African American, Sensei for SnakeEyes and Jinx. Blind I can see. But I'm having trouble with the fact that he is African American. He knows as much about the martial arts as i know about the Insane Clown Posse (the group RZA formed...I think) After I saw that, despite every other insane impossible thing in the movie, the movie went downhill from there. And despite his accent, he really is a good actor. Just he is a bad martial arts sensei.

Rule #2: Double Tap
Rule #32: Enjoy the little things

His cameo wasn't about acting. It was about...

A)His association with WuTang Clan
B) His association with other martial arts films (Kill Bill, Iron Fists)

reply

However you have no problem with a Caucasian Ninja. Hypocrite racist.

reply

I can't believe no one said this to you, but the Blind Master was an actual character in the GI Joe comics nearly 30 years ago and he WAS black.

That said, I cannot in any way defend the RZA's dreadful line delivery.

Aren't you relieved to know you're not a golem?

He should definitely disappear.

And his make up!! lmao he was slightly cross eyed... Dude looked like Clayton Bigsby from the Chappelle Show

reply

I don't understand why they couldn't have gotten any of the token asian actors that always play thugs or villains or martial artist. Like a recognizable face. It's also stupid how in American films they cross reference Japanese & Chinese martial arts like they are all interchangeable *beep* secrets or something. I mean they show no respect to even research

Ninjistu is clearly Japanese, Storm Shadow and Snake clearly use Japanese swords, yet RZA is dressed like an old Chinese man from a Shaw Brothers film and Jinx (who looked Mexican or Middle Eastern to me) was doing some awfully Kung Fu looking moves. Japanese and Korean arts are much more military defense based and practical. Kung Fu is more about movement and fluidity.

But we know ya'll don't care just want seem them little yellow people flyin' cross the screen doing that Bruce Lee stuff...
Oh and put it in 3D would ya...USA!...USA!....USA!...Carol pass me the Doritos and another PBR woman!
