Why in the hell did Bruce Willis keep calling Lady Jaye, "Brenda?"

Because Lady Jaye was his daughter and he thought she had no place being in the military. He was the father she wanted to receive a salute from and when he finally saluted her at the end that's the "big moment" .

How do y'all know her birth name was Brenda? The cartoon Lady Jaye's real name is Allison and in this its actually Jaye as far as I know. Are you guys just presuming its her birth name or did they say it? Wouldn't she show more surprise if this random person knew her not on file birth name?
shareYou know how people complain when movies spell everything out for them? this is a subplot that you gotta figure out on your own. She is not surprised because that is her dad. She doesn't say "Hey daddy"! because she wants his respect and resents that he never was proud of her military achievements. At the end he finally salutes her. Her father didn't die, Bruce Willis retired and now never would have to salute her as a higher ranking officer. It took me a couple of viewings before I pieced it together. Earlier I was like "why is Bruce Willis acting like a senile misogynist" ?
its just because he didn't want her to enlist and...he was a misogynist, even toward his own daughter.
So my theory that they may hook up after the award ceremony is now shot lol

How can this be a subplot when she explicitly states that her father died before she could outrank him (and thus make him salute her)? Don't you think she'd have reacted to seeing her father alive if Willis' character was actually her father?
Also, why would Willis' character say that "he knew her father?" That's just silly.
bruce is a jerk.if someone is good they are always good but to be a jerk and think lal is forgiven by a few words is not believable.
