I'm confused and surprised nobody else asked about this. Why is the monitor playing sound from Ryan to the "sister"? Shouldn't that be the other way around? So Ryan could hear what's going on down in the basement. What's the point of the person in the basement hearing everything Ryan is doing??? Can anyone explain that?

Yes I noticed the exact same thing and voiced this while watching it. It's mentioned on the IMDB mistakes section. That's not the way Baby Monitors work! The new "Nanny Cams" and "Pet cams" of today have 2-way communication, but not the baby monitors of 2012.
