Jeff should have won, BUT he's better off not winning and here is why.

Sony records has performers such as Miley Cyrus and One Direction under them. That's the type of stuff that people under the age of 21 listen to. He's more marketable to people over 21 and people that KNOW what real ass music is. Not this poppy *beep* crap about talking all night and liking girls and jumping in a vw beetle wearing abercrombie and saying that party is the life for me!

Nope he's better getting in contacts with rock agents and going the Daughtry route. Getting his own band together and hell maybe a band out there now will find him connectons. He's proven he's a great vocalist. A million dollar contract is nice but he's better off doing his OWN music without the pop behind it!

In the case of chris daughtery he did rather well with his rock band and is one of idols more successful non winners.

Honestly, Jeff Gutt is going nowhere. He will be long forgotten. And Alex & Sierra are heading towards the indie route. Not that "poppy crap" you speak of. Indie is really popular these days.

I agree. Alex & Sierra fit more of the X Factor image this show wants (the act that will do well in mainstream/top 40s). Alex & Sierra are more indie/alt/folk, but that is very popular right now so they can do well in the mainstream. I don't see Jeff as that type of X Factor (though he does have it). He is more rock, like you said, which is not as mainstream right now but still popular and still has a market. He could definitely go the Daughtry route and have plenty of success and make a career for himself. I think and hope he will do okay.
