does it get better?

I watched the first episode. I found it very slow and way too easy to follow. I could have it on in the background while doing something else and still be able to follow the episode. The costumes are beautiful, but I need more than pretty fabric to watch a series.

Does the pace get better at all?

Does the pace get better at all?

Short answer: no, not really. The dresses are beautiful indeed, the visuals stunning, some actors deliver brilliant performances but in terms of story(and history!) the show is seriously lacking, imo.

Well to be quite honest I feel that in S2 the pace is getting a bit better but the plot is still too simple, eventless and lame to be truly captivating. And very far from the actual history.
Also, the show was cancelled so the story isn’t told to the end.

If you haven’t yet, you can try Borgia Faith and Fear( the Netflix original show created by Tom Fontana for Europe). The series is definitely more accurate, it does have a closure and its plot is MUCH more fast-paced and complex, so you really have to pay full attention while watching.

Thanks.

I actually started watching this the day after I finished Borgia Faith and Fear, which I enjoyed immensely.

LOL Now I see. Watching The Borgias after Borgia F&F is like dabbling in a shallow pool after swimming in an open sea.

You're not alone. People who love Faith and Fear are very often not able to endure even the first episodes of The Borgias and usually quit watching - and vice versa.

The 2 shows are quite unlike each other in every possible aspect and basically aimed at 2 different target audiences.
