'La bella' Farnese

Why did they cast this actress Lotte Verbeek to play a supposed sexual woman and a beauty?
Lotte Verbeek has weird facial features, anorexic looking, huge forehead, just not sexually attractive.

Were it up to me, i'd cast someone more like Monica Bellucci or if they couldn't afford Monica Bellucci, then someone similar to her, as gorgeous, voluptuous, womanly, obviously sexual.

The actress playing Giulia in the other Borgia series also looks like that...thin, high forehead.

The real Giulia appears to have a high forehead, but she also appears more voluptuous.

I found her really beautiful maybe not sexual but incredibly beautiful in a Nicole Kidman Natalie Portman type.

Monica Bellucci could have been a great idea but maybe too expensive for a series or maybe not, another good choice could have been Caterina Murino the Bond girl of Casino Royale who died almost at the beginning

reply

I find Kidman very sexual, it's obvious in her movies like To Die For (1995) or even the recent crappy flick The Paperboy

reply

I never found Lotte beautiful or attractive. Only thing I could think the Pope sees in her is that she is new. Plus like every other woman on the show she is boring as hell.

Haven't seen those two you mention but I find Nicole like a princess type of beauty than a sex symbol.

I think temptresstoo has it right - if you search for paintings of the original and historical Farnese, she has a somewhat high forehead, so I suppose they tried to find someone who looked at least slightly like her.

And I think that by 15th century standards, she was probably very sexy and beautiful ;)

Why did they cast Lotte Verbeek to play a sexual woman and a beauty? Because she is a sexual woman and a beauty. I found her the most beautiful woman on this series, among all the other clearly beautiful women. Opinions on this are really pointless (one person finds this one attractive, somebody else doesn't, and so forth and so on.) Jealousy has much to do with it, I'm sure. Some ugly, fat, over-tattooed mess in Peoria gets to express her opinion that an actress isn't beautiful. Who cares? Nobody is looking at the ugly, fat, over-tattooed mess in Peoria, are they?

reply

>implying that i am some ugly, fat, over-tattooed mess in Peoria

I'm a male, i'm pretty fit, good looking, and i utterly despise tattoos.
Jim Morrison had no tattoos. Kurt Cobain had 1 tiny tattoo and he probably strongly regretted it, Iggy Pop - no tattoos, Sid Vicious had no tattoos.
Tattoos in the post-tramp stamp era are utterly tacky. No matter how hip or geometrical or mysterious you think your tattoos is - it's not. It's lame, uncool and ugly.
Don't get tattooed.

reply

You forgot arrogant. It's by far worse than any tattoo.

reply

Opinions vary on this but looking at pics of her on IMDB she looks really, really hot to me!

reply

The actress is sexy as hell and she has presence. The way she carries herself, everything about her oozes with sex appeal. And I'm a woman. She's not voluptuous but she's not anorexic either.
Some thin women can be very sexy. She's one of them.
And another thing, I find her facial features very beautiful. A high forehead isn't ugly. A low one is, it makes people look like apes ;)

Ha ha i love it when women dictate what is "sexy"

reply

Really?
You just proven what a biased moron you are. Congratulations!

Surprised you didn't outright call me hitler

Women and gays are clueless about what is sexy. Your idea of "sexy" is shallow, a certain standardized look. Like calling Angelina Jolie sexy. She is boring and not very attractive.

reply

Your personal opinion should be taken as law, shouldn't it? Because you are some higher creature that holds the true standards of beauty!
You are one of the biggest morons I saw around these boards. That takes some skill.

Because Farrah Fossit was to old for the part.

reply

I have no idea why they cast her as Julia Farnese.
In my opinion Lotte Verbeek represents typical Dutch type of beauty from the North of Europe and it's difficult to agree that "La Bella" who was Italian beauty could look this way.
