not a bad adaptation, but sack the stylist / wardrobe dept.

as many other people have said. WTF is going on with those stupid hats & the scarf. so so bad.

on the other side. i like Bello, i think she's got potential to give the character plenty of depth, and evolve as the show progresses. And the supporting cast is good as well.

Haha yeah, the hat was annoying! Bello really liked it though I think.

I was not too impressed with the pilot episode, and wouldn't have continued watching it if there had been more interesting shows on at the time. Then I liked it even less, since they sort of dropped the whole premise they used to sell the show with in episode 2, and never really returned to it. But as the season progressed it got better and better I think. The dynamic between the actors improved, and it started to develop its own character. By the time the season ended I was really disappointed that it would not be renewed. In my opinion it would have had the potential to become one of the more interesting primetime crime dramas.

It turned out to be quite a decent generic cop show but was not a patch on the UK series it was based on. That was both gritty and realistic in it's depictions of sexism and working relationships (or lack thereof).

Maria Bello doesn't really compare to Helen Mirren either, but good enough to carry this series.

I think shows can only ever come out badly if you compare them to other shows. Forget the fact that it's a remake. (I'm speaking generally, not just of this show). If it's a good show, it would've been good anyway. If it's not, it would've sucked anyway.

I have never seen the original, but in this case I think it has probably hurt the show more than it helped. The original aired 20 years ago, so those who remember it well will be those who liked it best back then, which are also those who will be most disappointed if the remake isn't "like" the original. The reason I say it hurt the show is because they really pushed the sexism bit in the promos and the pilot, but it was almost non-existent for the rest of the 13 episodes. I must say that I liked the show the way it was towards the end better than in the beginning, but doing that break, using the plot element of woman in a job world of machos just as a promo tool, was a bad decision.
