One of the most moronic video games ever.

Damn the main character is completely sexist, as imagined by pre-pubescent Japanese schoolboy. It does nothing for a genre with its less-than-original imbecilic combo button-mashing drudgery. The story is incomprehensibly lame fluff. The fights are repetitious to say the least. The fricking magic hair, the ridiculous gunshoes. Characters and gameplay elements are introduced and totally dropped. Enzo, the statues. Then an effete Adam Lambert "villain" with the white peacock festooned over his gay-ass shoulders appears. Good lord, this was J-pop dreck at its lowest. I mean there is even a dance number after the credits, complete with costume changes.

I absolutely LOVE this game. It the most mental and involved brawler ever created and it's way ahead of it's time. I definitely don't agree with your 'button mashing' statement. I mean there is button mashing but it definitely isn't mindless.
However when it comes to the plot I agree completely! The plot is truly dreadful! The concept and ideas are brilliant but the story is one of the worst computer game stories ever! Luka and the little girl - ugh! I so wanted to rip their bleedin' heads off!

Not all games needs to be a masterpiece. Sometimes you just want mindless action and over the top stuff

Seems like you totally missed the point. The game KNOWS it's ridiculous and over the top, it's not meant to be serious or thought-provoking in any way. Lighten up.

The combat system is actually very involved and complex in both installments. You CAN mash (which will probably get you through the game on 'Easy'), but learning the ins and outs is much more fun than mindlessly pressing the buttons. Button-mashing won't work for the Alfheim challenges, which I doubt you were able to complete.

If that's the case then it tries too hard to be cheesy or didn't work hard enough at making it believable.

I did wonder what was the point of Enzo...
