Why are the dark skinned women on this show so loud and ghetto?

That is so annoying!!

reply

You know why...it's the stereotype and we all know that stereotypes are true...aren't they?

reply

No they aren't.

It's funny ... I was just thinking this same thing the other day! Why?! And I wish they would kill that character all together! If she was a light skinned chick she would just be an airhead I guess!

The stereotypes on this show are running rampant but I have to point out, the obnoxious loud secretary is lighter than Tatiana Ali.

Bresha Webb who plays the secrectary is not lighter than Tatyana Ali. I wasn't putting Tatyana in the category of being loud and ghetto even though some people do consider her dark skin. I've always onsidered her light skin for some reason, I never knew what shade she was she seems in the middle.

A White woman that yells = outspoken
A Black woman that yells = ghetto

It does seem to be the case.

Black woman that yells and wears multi colored weave = GHETTO

Correct me if I'm wrong but there has only been 4 recurring female characters on the show and only one has been light skinned. The other three woman (Tatyana Ali, Regan Gomez Preston, Bresha Webb) basically have the same skin tone. So unless you are calling Tatyana Ali's character ghetto then I really don't see you point.

Don't Worry Be Happy.

reply

Tatyana Ali nor Regan Gomez Preston are dark skin, so no I wasn't talking about them.

reply

...and Bresha Webb isn't either so who else is there?

Happy 2014!!!

I'm pretty sure you can thank the show's executive producer, Martin Lawrence, and its creator, Bentley Kyle Evans, for putting together a writing staff that will keep the stereotypes alive and well. I remember an interview that Bresha Webb did before the show hit the air, and she described her audition for the show. She said something to the effect that when she went in and started doing her ghetto girl thing, they told her that they needed more, and she said ok, because she could give them more if that's what they wanted. So, I attribute all of that to Mr. Lawrence and Mr. Evans.

Also, think back to the "Martin" show. A lot of what you see on this show was already done on Martin's sitcom. Immunique was Shenehneh, who had a girlfriend that you rarely saw named Keylolo, which would be Latahvia on this show; Bentley Evans would guest star from time to time as a flamboyant homosexual, which is being played by the two neighbors, Adonis and Fabian on this show; there's the goofy guy who would be LaTrell, but on Martin's show he was Cole; and there is the one person who almost made sense in mostly every episode, and that is Del Jones on this show, but he was Tommy Strawn on Martin.
I remember one episode where Immunique threw everybody out after she got mad about a game they were playing. She did it exactly the way Martin Lawrence used to do it on his show, when he would get mad and tell everybody "get to steppin' ' Same thing, different show.
