Hmmm...

Only 2 reviews so far. One gives it 10/10 and the other 9/10. Always makes me suspicious.

I have to ask myself, is this film likely to be as good as The Godfather, The Shawshank Redemption or Apocalypse Now? I very much doubt it. So a 10/10 and a 9/10 score just screams "plant".

I'm not writing this movie off, I'll just wait for a real review before I make my mind up.

Fake reviewers, please take note. Do you see what you've done here? Your over the top reviews have turned me away. Please be more realistic in future to draw in more viewers.

Watch the damn trailer and quit wasting bandwidth adding to a broken record that's been played many times over before you arrived.

If you're suspicious of the reviews, or doubt the legitimacy of a reviewer, try clicking on the name of the reviewer. In this case, one of the reviewers has no posting or reviewing history- yes, suspicious. The other reviewer has six pages of reviews, a firmly established posting history, and this particular review was judged as helpful for 70% of the people that read it.

I have to ask myself, if everybody likes The "Godfather", "The Shawshank Redemption" or "Apocalypse Now" or for that matter, "Harold's Going Stiff" equally, then what is the point of reviews?

Whinging poster, please take note. Do you see what you've done here? Your inability to judge whether a reviewer is legitimate, when you seem to be educated, has called into question your posts. In the future, please engage mental transmission before releasing keyboard clutch.

Yeah, thanks guys, for taking the opportunity to reply to my post by way of criticism. I truly applaud your helpfulness here.

It must have taken you a good five minutes to type your response, so actually informing me of any details about the movie were clearly out of the question due to time restraints on your behalf.

Also, I was under the impression that these boards were forums for posting pretty much anything that may be on your mind to do with a given movie. I apologise, clearly I've broken the rules somehow by posting something that you didn't agree with. I shall strive to post topics that you deem appropriate in the future.

Again, I can't express how helpful you people have been.

Get a life and or watch the film

But please stop coming here making post about your suspicions.

I for one did not rank any of those movies you listed above a 8.

reply

People not giving me an actual answer and getting mad at my suspicions of the movie being terrible equals this film is terrible and there's absolutely no way in the world I'll be watching it now.

Great job guys.

Why would you assume good reviews are fake when you haven't even seen the movie? Doesn't make sense, dude.

But if you're waiting for a real review, here's one:

Out of the Top 30 list of best movies since last Halloween, it's come in at #4. And this reviewer is clearly not a plant.

Reason I don't trust movies that get over the top good reviews is because on IMDb, there's a big problem with fake reviews and going by experience, I tend to be put off by them.

Thanks for posting that link though. That's what I was after, a proper review from a trusted source. Instead I just got abuse, which made me even more weary. I'll probably check this movie out sometime now.

well if you want legitimate reviews you could simply go to rottentomatoes, where it has been reviewed by four of the biggest film critics in the country and all of them gave it a positive review.

the fact that no one in this thread has even pointed that out is surely also proof that no one in here commenting on the film is affiliated with it.

I couldn't care less what four critics wrote. This movie was utter *beep* The only way Harold became stiff is by dying of boredom over the script.

I mean really, it's incredibly dull stuff. If one was being honest you'd say you could see what they tried to do while they failed at it, and recommend people give it a miss.

It's not even remotely funny, not even a black comedy, it's just not that interesting a movie. I just waited it out till the end and was glad when it was over.

I definitely wasted some of my life waiting for this to finish. I've never said that about any other film. Usually I just turn them off after 33 minutes. I kept waiting for this to pick up.

It fails to deliver. 5/10
