Acting


Say what you will about this show. It was damn well acted though. I find myself having so much admiration for actors that I previously hardly noticed, or gave much thought too.

"Oh, you shouldn't think of her as being a woman. No, that would be a mistake."

Gave this one a new appreciation for the range that Dustin Hoffman is capable of. Have only seen a smattering of his performances (Midnigh Cowboy, Marathong Man, Tootsie, Rain Man & now Luck), but they always seem to depict a wide variety of quite believable personalities. The direct opposite of a one dimensional or typecast actor.

Try 'Straight Time' (Ulu Grosbard, '78), co-written by Mann and staring Hoffman as more-or-less the younger version of his character in 'Luck'.
