Did find the moment with Turo and the water bucket funny?

question

Yes! Very funny! It looked so natural I wondered if maybe John Ortiz accidentally tripped over it and ad-libbed it. But I'm probably wrong and it was written in.

I suppose there are worse things to step in or trip over in a stable.
I thought it was great departure from his usual super-cool 'tude.

I had the good fortune and great pleasure to see John Ortiz star in Steppenwolf's current production of The Motherfu**er with the Hat. The play runs until March 3rd. As will surprise no one who enjoyed his work in Luck, Mr. Ortiz is tremendous in the role. The trailer will give you a taste.

He has a certain "sparkle" that the camera really loves.

Pequod, how lucky you were to see Mr. Ortiz in the play. I don't know if you follow him on twitter, but he is extremely personable and very friendly with his fans there. He was sorely disappointed about Luck's cancellation, especially since it looked like he was going to be the break-out star of the series, but at least it seems to have helped with his career as he's worked non-stop on some excellent stage and screen projects since Luck ended. He's a very good actor and has enormous charisma on screen.

By the way, being on Luck opened him up to the world of horse racing and he's been very much involved in it since then. I know he was planning to buy a race horse last year but the one he wanted fell through; I'm not sure if he found another one. He still spends as much time at the track as he can and has maintained relationships with a lot of the people in front of and behind the camera on Luck, as well as the people at Santa Anita, including Julio Canani, the real-life horse trainer his character Turo Escalante was based on. Mr. Ortiz has posted some great photos over the past year of his time at Santa Anita.
