cliffhanger or not?

i really don't care about the horses, and i would eat them like i would any dead animal.

i just want to know if the show ended on a cliffhanger or not?

No. It's a pretty typical season ender, but with some threads awaiting further development.

thank you for your reply. would you recommend the show? would you say that it had a good enough ending to consider the show more or less closed?

I'd definitely recommend the show. Great acting, script and photography, but unfortunately it lacks real closure. The first season is somewhat contained, and you won't feel there are any big threads left unresolved, but at the same time everything is set up for more and if you like the show you will want more.

If you watch it you will most likely enjoy it, but be prepared that it ends while there is still so much you want to see.

I just watched the show and loved it. Unfortunately it does leave you feeling a bit empty and wishing HBO had stood behind it. I think it could've been really excellent had it been allowed a few more seasons.
